Pricing and Booking Questions

Call (07) 3523 7146

What decides the cost of clearing a blocked drain?

Access comes first: a boundary trap you can reach costs less to work on than a line buried deep along a terrace wall. What caused the blockage, the pipe material and whether a camera inspection is needed all shape the fixed price we agree before starting.

Do you charge by the hour?

No. We find the cause, explain the fix and agree a fixed upfront price before any work starts, so an awkward job running long never adds to your bill. You pay by card or EFTPOS on the day.

How do I book a drain visit?

Ring (07) 3523 7146 and tell us which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing, whether it's one drain or several, and any past blockages on the line. That rundown lets the plumber arrive knowing where to start.

How quickly can someone come out?

Call in the morning and we can usually have a plumber at your drain the same day, though it depends on the day's bookings. If sewage is coming up through a shower or gully, tell us when you ring.

Services and Methods Questions

Call (07) 3523 7146

When is jet blasting the right method?

Jet blasting (hydro jetting) suits lines thick with grease, silt or root sludge, which is common where kitchen and shower drains serve several households. It scours the full pipe wall rather than punching a hole through the plug. See drain cleaning for the detail.

What does a camera inspection actually show?

The camera films the inside of the pipe: root growth, cracked or offset joints, silt build-up and collapsed sections. On the suburb's aged earthenware branch lines it usually settles whether cleaning will hold or a repair is needed.

When would a drain need a repair rather than a clean?

Cleaning clears the blockage, but if the camera shows a cracked, root-damaged or collapsed pipe the blockage will come back. A repair, dug and replaced or relined from inside, fixes the pipe itself, and we quote both options.

Which fixtures count as drain cleaning jobs?

Kitchen, bathroom and laundry sinks, showers, floor wastes and the outside gully all count as fixture drains. A single slow sink usually needs a clean, while several fixtures gurgling together points to the sewer branch instead.

Local Drain Questions

Who owns which pipe?

Urban Utilities owns the sewer main in the street. Everything from your fixtures out to the boundary connection is the property owner's, which is the side we clear and film. A stoppage in their main is their crew's job.

Why do drains block on this ridge?

The slope is steep, so water races through the pipes and drops its paper wherever the grade flattens near the boundary trap. A century-old earthenware branch line with split cement joints catches that paper, and roots follow the moisture in.

I'm renting. What should I do about a blocked drain?

Most dwellings here are rented units, so a blocked drain usually starts with a call to the property manager. If sewage is rising inside your own unit, ring (07) 3523 7146 as well, because that can't wait on an approval.

What should I check before storm season?

Storm season runs from November to March, and rain on the ridge heads downhill fast. Clearing leaf litter from gutter pits and checking outside drains before summer means a small clean now instead of a flooded yard later.
