Every drain job we take fits one of the six services on our drain services page:

A toilet backing up or overflowing over the bowl needs a fast, careful fix. We clear the pan or the branch line, find what's caught, and get the flush working properly again.

When every fixture in the flat gurgles at once, the sewer branch is the likely culprit. We clear the line, trace the blockage to its source and stop the sewage coming back up.

Stormwater pits and pipes that overflow into yards and basements during storms get cleared and checked. Water that can't get away from a ridge property finds its way inside instead.

Slow sinks, showers and floor wastes cleared with jet blasting or an electric eel. A pipe cleaned properly stays clear longer, so the same blockage doesn't return next month.

A camera run down the line shows exactly what's down there: roots in a joint, a cracked earthenware section or settled silt. You see the cause before you commit to a fix.

Cracked, root-damaged or collapsed pipes can be dug up and renewed, or relined when the site suits it. We talk through both fixes and agree the price before anything starts.

Spring Hill Blocked Drain Services is the blocked drain service for Spring Hill, Herston and Bowen Hills. We clear the drains this suburb produces: toilets backing up in old flats, sewer branches full of roots, stormwater lines that drown when ridge rain arrives.
Who we serve. Most homes here are units and apartments, heritage cottages tucked between medical suites and school campuses. You get a fixed upfront price before work begins, from a locally owned business, not a franchise.

This ridge was hooked up to the city sewer by 1925, among the first in Brisbane, and plenty of the original branch lines are still earthenware. Their cement joints have cracked with age, and silt packs in behind the gaps until the line chokes.
These streets climb a slope that once carried the steepest tram line in Australia. Water racing down a steep house drain outruns the paper it carries, and that paper settles wherever the grade flattens, often at the boundary trap.
Mature trees through the long-settled pockets, some listed on council's significant landscape tree overlay, drive roots into those original joints and thicken there every season until the pipe barely flows.
Under the apartments and paved courtyards sit lines sized for far fewer homes, so storm flows and waste both push harder than the old pipes were ever meant to take.

Drain backing up right now? Three quick checks:

Catching a blockage early usually means a cleaning job instead of a repair. These are the signs worth acting on:
the vent or the branch line is partly blocked, and air is being pushed back through the water seal.
the branch drain is running slow and starting to overflow at the weakest point.
something is stuck and rotting in the line, or a joint has cracked and is leaking into the ground.
a build-up of hair, soap and silt is closing the pipe, and it will not clear itself.

Four things shape what clearing your drain will cost:
a gully in an open courtyard is a quicker job than a boundary trap down a narrow side passage between heritage cottages.
an old earthenware line buried deep takes longer to clear and carries more risk of cracking than shallow modern PVC.
flushed wipes come out in one visit, while a root mass inside a cracked joint usually means a bigger conversation.
if the cause isn't obvious once the line is clear, a camera run shows whether you're looking at a clean bill of health or a repair.
One honest exception: a blockage in the water authority's sewer main is Urban Utilities' job, not ours and not yours. If that's what the signs point to, we'll say so.

The stormwater story here is older than almost every building standing. Arterial drains went under the suburb between 1879 and 1886, and the heritage Monier vents sitting on Wickham Terrace and on St Paul's Terrace are leftovers of that early network.
Storm season runs November to March, and the exposed ridge sheds rain quickly toward the low side. The Water Street flow path gathers run-off from both sides of the ridge, and the old pits and pipes struggle, spilling into low yards and car parks.
Council's flood maps show the 1974, 2011 and 2022 Brisbane River events all stopping short of this suburb. Overland flow is the real risk, and council's planning area for it follows Water Street and the lanes running down toward it.

From the ridge down to the low side, we cover the suburbs that touch Spring Hill. Our plumbers are regularly in Herston, Bowen Hills, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane City and Petrie Terrace, clearing the same mix of old pipes and steep grades that shape this suburb.

On (07) 3523 7146, run through which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing, so the plumber on the way knows where to start.

We show you the cause, talk through the fix and give a fixed upfront price, and work begins only when you are happy with it.
We work from the boundary trap or gully with the eel or jet, chasing the blockage down the line until the water runs free and the cause shows itself.

We test the drain with running water until it flows freely and show you the result before leaving the job.

How easy the drain is to reach, how deep it runs and what it's built from, what caused the blockage and whether a camera inspection is needed all shape the quote, which you agree to before any work starts.
Ring early and a plumber can usually reach your drain the same day. Same-day is where we can, never a promise we can't keep, and you'll know the timing when you book.
The pipes inside your boundary and up to the connection point are the owner's responsibility. The sewer main itself belongs to Urban Utilities, so a blockage in their main is their job, not yours.
Wet wipes, paper towel, cotton buds, cooking fat and oil, and sanitary items cause most avoidable blockages. Toilet paper and the contents of the pan are all a modern drain should be asked to carry.
We start with what you describe on the phone, then clear the line and, if the cause is still hidden, run a camera down it to see whether it's roots, a cracked joint or a collapsed section.
Ring (07) 3523 7146, describe which fixtures are slow or gurgling, and the plumber heading out will know where to start. You can pay by card or EFTPOS on the day.
Ring (07) 3523 7146 about the drain that's playing up: $0 call-out fees, no surcharge for nights, weekends or public holidays, and same-day where we can across Spring Hill. Mention this offer when booking: $99 off blocked drains. T&Cs apply.
